Christmas Party 2015
By Theda Boon-Itt (Student Coordinator), Monday 7th December 2015
Sunday December 6th 2015, volunteers from Dreams We Believe In (DWBI) took a day trip traveling up to Baan Gerda to celebrate christmas with the orphans living with HIV/AIDS. The day started early in the morning by packing presents; provided by the NIST community onto the bus. We then proceed on a three and a half hour bus journey. As we arrived at Baan Gerda, the NIST volunteers were excited to see some familiar faces again. Once everyone had settled down, we began with participating in activities prepared by the NIST students that went on until lunch. After lunch, the Baan Gerda children took all the volunteers on short tour of their home. Later that afternoon we handed out gifts to all the children at Baan Gerda. They then opened all their gifts e. It was an extremely good opportunity for all the coordinators and volunteers alike as this was our first time traveling to Baan Gerda.

Christmas Party 2014
December 2014 The DWBI annual Christmas party was extra exciting and special this year because it was held at Baan Gerda for the first time ever. The kids had never done anything like this before and they were all thrilled. It all started during the Mercy Fun day event at NIST where every kid wrote down what they wished for for Christmas and with the help of the NIST community, all presents were purchased and wrapped with a card by December 7th. |

After the 3-hour drive, we arrived at the Baan Gerda with all the kids waiting enthusiastically to see us. Boxes and boxes filled with presents were loaded off the bus and we all gathered in the center room where we ate, sang songs, played games and opened presents. The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with enthusiasm, love and gratitude. It was a great and successful day overall with many memories created.
December 2013
The Christmas party allowed members of the DWBI group to enjoy a day with kids. Running around, opening presents, and having lunch together weren't the only things we did that day, we gave the kids a chance to experience "Christmas".
During Mercy Fun Day, the kids wrote down what they really wished for. The DWBI group then set up a Christmas tree with the wish cards so that the NIST community could have a chance to fulfill these wishes even if it is as simple as buying an MP3 player and wrapping it in a box.
However, our goal wasn't for the kids to get what they want. Our goal was to allow them to experience the excitement of opening a present, the joy of sitting on Santa's lap, and also celebrate the spirit with their families.
