On November 8th 2015, DWBI hosted an event inviting orphans living with HIV/AIDS from Baan Gerda to NIST in order to have fun with the students and the activities that they had set out. The day started out with more physical activities like swimming, football and basketball and gradually settled down into other activities like frame painting and card decorating. The frames were sold during events later in the year, such as World Aids Day and Starry Nights. Even the NIST varsity dance team and Y11 drama students put up a show for the children. Both the children from Baan Gerda and student volunteers had a blast interacting with each other and having a day that was not only fun, but also raised awareness about HIV/AIDS and the stigma surrounding it. |
