Monday 10th May 2015
On Saturday 9 May 2015, the Dreams We Believe In group brought 57 children and 7 housemothers from Baan Gerda to Siam Park City for a 6-hour event. Both students and staff from the NIST community joined the trip in order to connect and create new friendships with the kids from Baan Gerda.
The trip was made possible due to the funds raised through the World Aids Day in November and the Dodge Ball Tournament in March.
The NIST drivers, Khun Geng and Khun Arom left Bangkok in the late afternoon on Friday, and spent the night at Baan Gerda in Lopburi, so that they could leave straight after breakfast at 6.30 am on Saturday. Both NIST volunteers and the kids from Baan Gerda reached Siam Park City at around 10 30 am. The kids first got to play on various rides for about one and a half hour. They then enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet after which they went to the water park area. The kids played in the world’s biggest wave pool and enjoyed the giant slides. In the end, everyone had an amazing time and we hope to establish an even stronger friendship with the kids from Baan Gerda since this is our first year organizing events with them. Khun Geng and Khun Arom brought the kids back home at around 5 pm, and they reached Baan Gerda safe and sound at around 8.30 pm.
Thank you again for every NIST student and staff who participated in or supported the DWBI Special Trip.
A special thanks to Aey who coordinated with both Baan Gerda and Siam Park City. A big thank you to Vanessa and Khun Jentana for cooking dinner for all the kids and housemothers. Thank you also to Irene, Aey and Art for making sure all kids got snacks and drinks. Thanks to Khun Nan for coordinating and supporting. Thanks to Khun Geng and Khun Arom for taking care of the transportation.

This event was made only partly for NIST students and teachers to have fun, but the main reason for this event was to take the kids from Baan Gerda on a trip to an amusement and water park. The money raised from this event went to funding the trip for the kids.
