Worlds AIDs Day is one of the 8 global public health campaigns marked by the world health organization (WHO). Since 1998, it has been designated to the 1st of December every year. It is dedicated to spreading awareness of AIDs prevention, mourning the loss of those who died and looking towards a cure.
DWBI hosted World AIDs at NIST International School on the 1st of December this year. We would do our annual ribbon sale which would both bring in donations and spread the symbol of HIV/AIDs. In addition, we had music performances on the oval to bring attention of our cause to the wider school community. Our proudest achievement was the sale of the photo frames which were made by no other than the children from baan gerda when they came over to NIST for Mercy Fun Day. It was great to see how the NIST community and Baan Gerda connected, even though they weren’t physically together, every time a member of the NIST community bought a frame it felt like they were directly connecting to a kid from Baan Gerda.
We were able to raise awareness in the NIST community, and should aim to do so with even greater effectiveness in the next and following years to come. The money raised from this event will go towards organizing a trip for the kids at baan gerda as well as other projects for their well-being.
